Introduction

Before we start, Making a beat is an art guided by principles and its creativity depends on the Producer's choice, there is no specific beat but there is a specific genre, for each genre there are principles that identify one genre and differentiate it from another. Therefore the only thing that matters here is creativity and this is obtained through listening and sampling.use your ear to listen when your brain has programmed you to do and enlist it in your What is in your mind, is what you must do in your DAW, You have to learn to control your DAW because sometimes you might want to create a beat but in the process of making it in your DAW you ending up losing some of your ideas therefore you need to be careful and get more experience. First In your creativity ability, you can either create an unknown beat or to inspired type beat we all have been through this so You should not lose your focus or be scared but be consistency. for the fact that your DAW can't make beats by itself but it's what has been instructed by you and thus you should be able to master everything in your Digital Audio Workstation including Learning how to navigate through each channel, bar, playlist and how to Pick your sample and place it in your Channel rack. After Mastering those skills of navigating in your DAW, then you should consider the following steps, in this section, I'm going to start with drums followed by a melody

How to make a beat in Fl Studio 20 step-by-step

The first step is to think about samples. Samples are building blocks. Usually, when you select good samples, ensure that they are quality enough and sound more relevant clean and nice. This will eventually lead to more good results at the final stages of mixing.

The second step is to set the Right Tempo. This refers to the speed of your beat. Think about what kind of tempo is suitable for artists. For example, most of the trap beat Tempo ranges from 100 -to 150 beats per minute, Tempo is so important because it signifies the ability of an artist, especially a singer to rap over those beats smoothly without obstruction such as shortness of breath. Therefore choose the one you deserve with your ability to sing.

The third step is to place all of your samples in the channel rack and group them. These samples are a kick, clap, hi-hat, and 808.

The fourth step is to add a kick. To do this you can either place your kick interval manual or by default. By default just right-click at a kick sample and select 8 steps automatically will align itself into 8 steps.

The fifth step is to add clap or Snare Percussion. In this case, when you're making a trap beat you should consider the position of your clap to be after kick hits, just a few steps let's say 4 steps one thing to remember as a beginner you need to make sure the clap intervals are equally, use your ears to listen.

The sixth step is to add a closed hi-hat. By default, you can right-click on the hi-hat sample in your Channel rack and select 2 steps. Now the hi-hat roll will align itself automatically.

The seventh step is to add an 808. Here 808 functions as the bass, You should consider aligning them proportional to a kick. That means a kick and an 808 must be in the same phase. They should align themselves proportionally.

The eighth step is to design the main melody. In this case, you should pick up your Vst plugin and select the appropriate sample within it. This would be ready to start creating your melody. After selecting the instrument within the VST plugin ForexamplePiano, right-click again at your VST plugin and select piano roll and then create your melody manually or by using the keyboard if you've already connected it to your computer ready to use.

Nine step is to choose the right chord and key to start creating a melody. To create a melody you need simply to understand melody tricks and one of the basics of creating a melody is using chord progression. This will eventually give you the proper scale to make sure your melody doesn't sound off the scale.

The next step is to create routes for your samples and melody in the channel rack right through the mixer channel. The main aim of this is to make sure that each sample occupies individual channels and that you're able to balance them.

The eleventh step is leveling. Make sure that you have a preference for which instrumental sample you want to be heard the most. Just make them sound equally, which means no one should make noise over the other instruments. You need to turn down the volume in the master channel and hear which one is disturbing and able to adjust its frequency in the volume knob until you make sure that it's clear and then reset the volume on the master channel.

The twelve steps is to panning. Panning function to create space between the instrumental tracks and ensure noise reduction. This is effective in making each track have room to play and avoid noise issues.

Advanced ways

Another step is to arrange your instrumental tracks into the playlist. This will help you to create variations in your beat and arrange them for singing or rap. The Beat arrangement parts are the intro, chorus, verses, and outro. There should be enough bars to make your beat more pleasant and not boring. Also, it will give an artist enough length for singing.

Note that: In beat making you need to start with one that comes the right way from your mind. For example, if it is melody ideas then you should start with a melody and create rhythm before you forget. On the other hand, if it's a drum pattern you've got an idea you need to start with a drum pattern. In this article I have started to explain about drums and then melody but in reality, you should start with your preference because it works fine in whatever the case.
